2M Series
The 2M series, consisting of 2M Red, Blue, Bronze, and Black, were developed in conjunction with the Danish designer Møller Jensen Design – the same designer who designed the award winning MC Jubilee and Kontrapunkt series.
Inspired by the facets of a diamond, whose contours gracefully trace the grooves on a record’s surface, the 2M’s handsome elegance establishes a great combination of form and functionality.
2M are designed for precise and accurate retrieval of the information in the record groove. The philosophy is to play the record sound as accurate as possible, without coloring the sound.
Ortofon has optimized the design of 2M series for ease of mounting the cartridge, weight and size to fit the most common turntables at the market today.
The name 2M was selected among several ideas. Ortofon wanted a modern name which should be easy to pronounce and to remember, and therefore an alpha numerical name was chosen. 2M means MM, which is the abbreviation for moving magnet.
Of course the 2M isn’t just another pretty face. It has been engineered to the highest standards and is congruent with Ortofon’s unrelenting commitment to providing the most precise and accurate reproduction possible without coloration.
2M Red $141
The new introductory Ortofon 2M Red is an update of Ortofon’s best-selling OM range. The 2M body, generator and stylus profile have all been greatly improved. This great budget cartridge now integrates 21st century technology in an affordable package.
2M Blue $274
The 2M Blue uses the same structure as the Red but reaches deeper into the groove with its new highly polished nude elliptical stylus. The result is far better tracing and quieter reproduction. The 2M Blue easily outperforms the older OM30 by a significant margin.
2M Bronze $489
The 2M Bronze features a nude fine line stylus, polished to the highest standards. The slimmer profile of this stylus will track even the highest frequency modulations, making this cartridge better suited for extremely demanding material. Distortion and record wear are substantially reduced.
2M Black $847
